Network Bangla would like to express its thanks to the following members, who through their contribution at various levels have helped Network Bangla progress to what it is today.
Fatema Yasmine Khatun
Executive Committee, November 2006 - April 2008

Fatema Yasmine Khatun is a graduate of the University College London where she read Podiatric Medicine, specialising in the clinical treatment of the lower limbs.
Her clinical profession has given her the opportunity to work in some of the most deprived boroughs in London and has allowed her to gain experience as a clinical supervisor with undergraduate students in her field of study.
In her final year of study, Fatema was nominated for the distinguished 'Social Colours Award' for her outstanding contribution to the UCL community. In addition to her work with Network Bangla, Fatema is currently involved with the Imperial Bengali Society and has also worked alongside film students from the University of East London.
Fatema is also highly active in the South Asian Entertainment arena with InsideDesi.com, an online lifestyle magazine and also has interest in Bangla Media. When Fatema is not interviewing Bollywood celebrities and British Desi personalities she works on another project called The Bangladesh Human Rights Coalition. The BDHRC is the gathering of many other organisations which focuses on highlighting and taking positive action of the human rights situation in Bangladesh.
Shuhel Miah
Executive Committee, September 2007 - April 2008
A recent graduate in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, Shuhel is currently working as an IT Service Consultant in London. Like a number of his Network Bangla colleagues, Shuhel had played an intrinsic role in his university Bengali Society and was elected as its President in 2004.
Shuhel is a great advocate of civil liberties and human rights and is actively involved with a number of organisations including Liberty and StWC in order to advance such values home and abroad. Shuhel is also a believer in social responsibility, and has worked on numerous projects in Manchester and his hometown Swansea to progress the local community.
In his spare time Shuhel likes to feed his interest in current affairs and politics through reading; he is a great fan of music of many genres - most notably Bengali, Hip Hop and Drum and Breaks.
Abul Taher
General Committee, October 2007 - April 2008
Abul is currently employed by a leading Solicitors firm as a Specialist Assistant Immigration Supervisor and advocates representation of clients in various areas of law. His proficiency is in Immigration, Crime and Property Law. Having successfully completed the LLB Law Degree and read the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law he is now an avid member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (Law Society).
Abul is also a Senior Founding Partner of his own Immigration Law Practice. He is a dedicated workaholic but has respectfully maintained a healthy balance between employment and social relations.
Abul's zest for life blossoms from his family morals and principals. He has regular interactions with his local community and is a well- respected prominent figure. Although born in Bangladesh he has been bred in the UK and habitually keeps in touch with his roots via regular visits to his motherland.
He is a people?s person and was the President of the University Asian Lawyers Society. Notwithstanding his busy schedule Abul is also currently undertaking training to be appointed as a Special Police Constable for the London Metropolitan Police force voluntarily.
Finally, Abul's fundamental interests remain with his family and friends and that of his camera too. His sense of humour is in abundance and his hobbies range in magnitude.
Arman Ali
General Committee, July 2007 - April 2008
Arman Ali is a Director of an Immigration consultancy based in Barking. His work brings him in direct contact with the bangladeshi community's many flavours. This has helped enhance his inter-personal and PR skills, which he believes will be an invaluable skill-set to Network Bangla.
However, Arman's first love was IT and he has previously worked as a Cisco Engineer for BT Global Services before re-training for Immigration Law. This passion for computing, coupled with his passion for photography and fueled by his creative streak, has enabled Arman to produce some interesting photographic work some of which can be found on the Network Bangla website.
Arman also writes poetry and has featured in an anthology called the Soul Gatherer published by UK based Dogma Publications. Some of his work can be found on the Network Bangla forum.
Arman realises his social responsibility and is involved with BTVolunteers, a volunteering organisation aimed at improving young people's communication skills through workshops run in schools nationwide.
In his spare time, Arman likes to travel whether that be driving through europe, quad-biking in the Sinai mountains, jet-skiing in the caribbean or trekking in the ancient city of Petra. Arman firmly believes that travel broadens the mind and entices creativity. Arman has also visited Bangladesh on numerous occasions and looks forward to a Network Bangla visit to Bangladesh!
Husne Begum
General Committee, July 2007 - August 2008
A graduate in Media and Society from Greenwich University, Husne Begum has utilised her pool of transferable skills and embarked upon her current successful career in fundraising.
Brought up in Birmingham, the heart of England, Husne works as a Fundraising Manager at autism.west midlands in a role that is highly challenging yet extremely rewarding.
Husne has also lived and worked in London for over 7 years which she thoroughly enjoyed but is now pleased to be back in her home town of Birmingham.
As a member of the organisation’s General Committee, Husne aims to apply her professional skills in supporting Network Bangla fulfil its vision.
Husne is a keen supporter of Manchester United FC which just goes to show that people from diverse backgrounds can work together successfully!
Solma Begum
General Committee, July 2007 - April 2008
Solma Begum, an English Literature Graduate from The University of Birmingham. She is presently pursuing a career in Retail Banking Management to gain deeper understanding and to develop her skills in a management role, before stepping into her desired career as a teacher in special needs.
Solma is part of a Bangladeshi Progressive Society in her local area where she has recently set up a Paired Reading Project to help children in the community with special needs. She aims to develop her skills through such projects and networking before going to complete her PGCE in her required subject.
Her strengths include valuing diversity, building relationships and rapport with individuals and organisations This is shown through the work developed by her involvement in the Bangladeshi Progressive Society.
Zabare Akram
General Committee, July 2007 - April 2008
Zabare, a born and bred Yorkshire man, graduated from Queen Mary University of London in the field of Computing and currently works as a Mathematics teacher at secondary school level.
He has studied and worked in East London through which he has acquired an appreciation of the diversity and success it holds. His work with children at a local tuition centre has allowed him to witness the success and potential present within the community and as such believes Network Bangla to be an excellent organization that can help uncover this potential.
Zabare hopes to use his IT skills and experiences of working with young people to assist NB with continued success and give back to the community.
Zabare is a die-hard Liverpool supporter and as such plays football on a regular basis. Over recent years he has added running to his list of hobbies having completed a few 5km runs for charity, with hopes of running the London Marathon soon. He is an avid reader of books with a special interest in Fantasy novels.
